Obituary

‘Awwww Maaann!’

Tim Murray, the best uncle, brother, son and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 19, 2022 after suffering a heart attack and aortic dissection.

Tim grew up in Central Florida and graduated from Lake Howell High School. He was an artist from an early age and attended Ringling School of Art and Design for a year after high school, before deciding that formal education was not his path. Tim left art school in the early 90’s and toured the United States with the industrial metal band, Genitorturers.

After leaving the band, Tim moved to New York City with $900 and a desire to live an artist’s life. It was in New York that he found his second passion, music. Tim DJed at clubs around Brooklyn, most notably at Luxe where he started b movie night, Frying Pan (on the Chelsea Pier), and the Sidewalk Cafe.

Tim eventually found a career as a carpenter building sets for film and television.  He worked on projects such as The Black List, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Sesame Street, and the Tonight Show to name a few. Tim was a current member of IATSE local 52, and had been a member of IATSE local 4.

Tim was a kind and generous person. You could count on him to help where he could, whether that was financial help or to help you move, Tim was there. He brought laughter and joy with him everywhere. His sense of humor was quick, and spot on. Most of all, Tim was amazingly creative and had a unique perspective on the world.

Tim is survived by his mother Jeanette Murray, his nephews Kaleb Seeley, Jake Seeley, and his sister Summer Murray Seeley. Tim had an amazing family of choice in New York. Deana Anais, Eric Knuble, Robert Sheehan, and Chris Carcich; thank you for everything, from the bottom of our hearts.

Please join us at a Celebration of Tim’s Life. Where we will share a toast to this beautiful soul, gone too soon.

Bro,

I do not have words to express how thankful I am that I had you as my big brother. You were my first friend, my guide, the arbiter of all things cool, and my rock. I am shattered by your loss. It takes my breath away when I remember we won’t see you at Christmas, or when I realize you and I will never again spend hours talking about everything and nothing. (Who will suggest surprisingly sweet, yet entertaining reality TV?) I will forever miss your insight and humor; the lifetime of private jokes that no one else will ever understand. There is a void in my world.

I love you Tim ~S
